History
Kildare Steiner School began life as the Dublin Rudolf Steiner School
in 1987. It was founded by a group of parents and teachers who were inspired
by the this method of education. The Dublin School was a founder member
of the Irish Steiner Waldorf Association, along with other Irish Steiner
schools - the Holywood school and the Clare school. The Dublin school
was housed in the basement of a house on Templeogue Road, with a kindergarten
of 18 children. The first teacher of class 1 was Daniel Newman.

Within a year it had moved to its own premises at 28 Maxwell Road, Rathmines and as more pupils attended new teachers were needed.
As the school
grew it needed to find a bigger premises and the decision was also made
to relocate to a rural setting at Dunshane, near Kilcullen in Kildare.
The school has moved again to its own site on 4.2 acres at Rathargid,
Gormanstown. We have built our first permanent school building and have
developed the playground for kindergarten and primary school as well as
landscaping the area and planting an orchard.
